Our Wines

The Grapes for all our wines have been tended and picked by hand and the wine made and bottled entirely on the estate with minimum intervention.

All of the wines make a good aperitif and are excellent with a range of food. In particular they partner rich and spicy foods well. Try them with smoked salmon, fish and chicken dishes, oriental food, leek tart and cold, smoked meats.

  Oxford Fumé  2009                                    £8.90

This is the first Bothy white which has been fermented and aged in new French oak barrels. Made entirely from Bacchus, the result is a well-integrated, dry wine with subtle, creamy oak flavours that compliment its generous fruit. This bottle is just one of 916 produced in 2009.

  Renaissance 2009                                       £7.90

1545 bottles of this wine were produced in 2009. The small quantities produced allow for meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyard and winery. The 2009 Renaissance is a blend of Ortega and Albalonga, which has produced a full-bodied, off dry, soft and rounded wine redolent of peaches and almond blossom.  Soft and easy to drink, it will partner smoked food and Chinese dishes particularly well.

    MEDIUM
The Paradox 2007                                       £9.90  SOLD OUT SORRY.

The Paradox is a concentrated, medium wine brought about by the heavy rains!  The 2007 July storms caused our Ortega and Findling to set seedless fruit which formed small berries.  These berries ripened with high sugars and outstanding flavours.  Early picking ensure good balancing acidity.  Only 1,218 bottles of this extraordinary wine have been produced.  Nectarines and a hint of dill seed on the nose giving way to peaches and cream on the palette.

An excellent wine which should age well and develop in complexity.  A delectable aperitif, it would partner onion tart, pate, smoked meats and Oriental food.  Won a silver medal in the English and Welsh Wine of the Year Competition 2008 and the Berwick Trophy for the Best Unchaptalised wine.

    ROSE
  Oxford Pink 2009                                      £7.90

By the careful blending of some of the fruit from our young red varieties, with our mature whites (Huxelrebe and Ortega), Bothy Vineyard has produced its second rosé.  Dry but more full bodied than our first rose, it has cherries and plums on the pallette and will partner food very well. Only 1004 bottles of this well structured wine were produced.

    RED
Coté Bothy                                         £4.90   SOLD OUT SORRY

423 bottles of our first experimental red wine were produced in 2008 tasting of blackberry, mulberry and vanilla, the latter thanks to our use of a new oak barrel. Our usual philosophy of minimal intervention in winemaking has resulted in quite a full bodied, intensely coloured wine, but it has thrown a substantial deposit in bottle and will benefit from decanting, ideally a couple of hours before drinking to allow it to open up.  We have much to learn about making red wines and low price reflects the experimental nature of this cuvée.

    SPARKLING

  Halcyon Days 2008                                               £12.90

The 2008 summer rains resulted in poor fruit set and small crop of well flavoured grapes.  We made a small quantity of excellent still wine and sent this to Three Choirs to be bottle fermented.  After over a year on its lees we are proud to offer a distinctly English Sparkling Wine.  Fruity, aromatic and much softer than Champagne it is highly approachable and "quaffable".
